Dr. Carol Lippincott joins Water Institute as a Research Coordinator,

Dr. Carol L. Lippincott joined the Water Institute in June 2015, bringing over 20 years of experience in scientific assessment, management and restoration of natural systems in Florida, with a focus on water resources and multi-stakeholder collaboration. Carol served over 13 years with the St. Johns River Water Management District as a senior environmental scientist and manager of several watershed restoration and management programs. Over the past 8 years, Carol developed her skills in process facilitation, working as an independent neutral consultant to help diverse groups throughout Florida to make balanced and informed decisions about natural-resource issues.

Carol earned her Doctorate from University of Florida in the Ecology program, Master of Science from Texas A&M University, and a Bachelor of Science from University of Florida. She is certified as a Professional Facilitator by the International Association of Facilitators.

A Miami native, Carol spent her early years exploring the Everglades, Biscayne Bay, and the Florida Keys, developing an appreciation for the significance of ample clean water to natural systems. During her early career work in agriculture, she became aware of the importance of water to food production. In her later work in water management, Carol experienced the challenge of balancing conflicting water-related interests. Her work as a facilitator guiding groups addressing environmental issues confirmed that working collaboratively - breaching traditional boundaries - can lead to novel solutions for complex water dilemmas.

As a Research Coordinator, Carol welcomes the opportunity to combine her skills as an environmental scientist, program and project manager, and facilitator in working with Water Institute Affiliate Faculty teams and others to identify and develop promising opportunities for interdisciplinary water-related research and outreach programs.
