 NEW 2015 WATER INSTITUTE FACULTY FELLOWS,

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Mark Clark and Dr. Michael Dukes for being selected as the 2015 Water Institute Faculty Fellows, recognized for their contributions to interdisciplinary water research, extension, and education programs, as well as for providing substantial support to programs of the UF Water Institute.

Dr. Clark, Associate Professor and Extension Specialist for Wetlands and Water Quality in the Department of Soil and Water Science, is widely sought-after throughout Florida as an expert on wetland ecosystems. Dr. Clark is recognized for excellence in outreach, student mentoring, and research. Dr. Clark’s extension work focuses on using wetlands to improve water quality and ecological function, with focus Low Impact Development practices. Dr. Dukes, Professor in the Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering and Director of the UF Center for Landscape Conservation and Ecology, is a widely recognized expert in irrigation engineering, crop water use, water quality and quantity issues, and Best Management Practices to reduce pollutant runoff from agricultural and urban landscapes. Dr. Dukes’ research and extension programs, particularly his development of innovative urban smart irrigation technologies, are nationally renowned. Mark and Michael join current WI Faculty Fellows Drs. Matt Cohen, Rafael Munoz-Carpena, James Jawitz and Jonathan Martin. WI Faculty Fellows receive a salary supplement of $2,000 a year during their 3-year Fellowship term.

Dr. Dukes and Dr. Clark will be recognized at the Faculty Fellow Awards Celebration, held jointly with the Florida Climate Institute, on October 19, 2015 from 4:30-6:30 at the Keene Faculty Center in Dauer Hall. The 2015 Florida Climate Institute Faculty Fellows, Dr. Andrea Dutton and Clyde Fraisse, will also be recognized at the event.
