SEC Academic Conference: The Future of Water ,

Mississippi State University is set to host the first SEC on-campus academic conference in March. The conference is titled, “The Future of Water: Regional Collaboration on Shared Climate, Coastlines, and Watersheds” and will be held March 27-28, 2017.

Topics to be discussed at the conference include regional policy, shared coastlines, regional climate and climate change, shared watersheds and aquifers and more. The UF Water Institute’s staff member Carol Lippincott served on the advisory committee of the conference.

Keynote speakers included in the agenda are John M. Barry, author of “Rising Tide;” Dr. Jary Famiglietti, University of California – Irvine and NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory at the California Institute of Technology; and Dennis Dimick, National Geographic.

Breakout sessions feature faculty from all fourteen universities in the SEC. The University of Florida Water Institute will be represented by four of its affiliate faculty members as panelists including Christine Klein, Rafael Muñoz-Carpena, Eban Bean, and Kathryn Frank.
