Sandra Postel Confirmed as Plenary Speaker for 2018 UF Water Institute Symposium ,

The Water Institute is honored to welcome Sandra Postel as the Plenary Speaker for the 6th UF Water Institute Symposium, taking place on February 6th – 7th, 2018, on the UF campus in Gainesville, FL.

Postel is Director of the Independent Global Water Policy Project, and was appointed Freshwater Fellow of the National Geographic Society in 2010. She has had an impressive and inspiring career working to promote sustainable practices in regards to the use and conservation of freshwater. Sandra has authored over 100 articles and publications and has penned five books dealing with national and global water challenges. Her work has won her praise and recognition in the water community, and she is a highly sought-after speaker and lecturer across the country.

Sandra’s newest book, Replenish: The Virtuous Cycle of Water and Prosperity, is set to be released in October 2017.

The 2018 UF Water Institute Symposium will focus on shaping our water future. Presentations, poster sessions, and panels will explore current water use, conservation, restoration, and adaptation efforts and challenges while envisioning new ways of sustaining our water systems. Innovative science, technology, cultural, policy, and management solutions will be reflected in the following areas:

Drivers of social, hydrologic, ecologic and economic change
Impacts to coastal, surface water, spring and aquifer systems
Tradeoffs among water use, conservation, restoration and adaptation
Solutions through science, technology, cultural, policy and management approaches
