Water Resource Stewardship in the US National Park Service

Using examples from parks across the U.S., Dr. Harvey will explore how parks identify water resource issues and how they develop and apply scientific information to make water-resource management decisions. Challenges to park water-resource management will be explored, including transboundary issues, partnership building, scientific uncertainty, funding and personnel/expertise, and making science-based decisions that also consider legal, political, socioeconomic, and cultural impacts. Dr. Harvey will also present future water resource research and management needs in parks and insights into engaging in water-resources research within parks.
