Commercially available automatic water samplers require deployment onshore and typically allow samples to remain open to the atmosphere after collection. They are typically designed for developed water systems that are easily accessible. They can be expensive, limiting the number that can be deployed at any one time. This project developed a new sampler that is deployable in the water to be collected. The sample chambers are syringes that are powered by springs and a sealed with solenoid valves powered by a 12V battery and controlled by a microprocessor. |
