Literature review and synthesis of agricultural water quality BMP research
Goals and Objectives
 
In the 1990s the Florida legislature directed the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services to develop BMP manuals and adopt them by rule. As a result it is important to quantitatively establish the effectiveness of the adopted BMPs. There is a need to review previously published research related to the effectiveness of Florida agricultural BMPs for conserving water and protecting water quality.

In Phase I of this project relevant peer reviewed BMP research literature will be collected, indexed by BMP type, commodity, and location; and provided to FDACS in an endnote database. In Phase II of this project a systematic review of this literature will be conducted, executive summaries of BMP effectiveness by commodity will be produced, and knowledge gaps and priorities for future research needs will be identified.
